Rachel Boillot is a photographer and documentary filmmaker based in Cumberland Gap, Tennessee. She received her BA and BFA from Tufts University and earned her MFA at Duke University. Her artwork documents both disappearing and newly emergent facets of American culture, particularly in the South, where she makes her home.
In Silent Ballad: Time Sings in the Cumberland Plateau, Rachel Boillot explores Appalachia, photographing East Tennessee’s musical heritage along the mountain roads between Signal Mountain and Cumberland Gap.
