Brooke White: Due South, True North

By  |  December 19, 2012

In this season of travel, we are featureing images from Brooke White's series Due South, True North. In her photographs White contrasts landscapes from Mississippi with scenes from Maine. White's work speaks to the experience of travel—not only the pleasure of seeing a new landscape with its unfamiliar textures and light, but also our tendency to seek out the forms of landcapes that remind us of home.

A widely traveled photographer and video artist, Brooke White is also an educator specializing in fine art photography and video art at the University of Mississippi. Her work has been featured in exhibits at the Hammer Museum in Los Angeles, MASSMoCA, and the DiVA Art Fair in New York City, Paris, and Berlin. White frequented areas such as East Africa, South East Asia, and South America to produce many of her photographs and videos.
