The Oxford American is the pinnacle of cultural magazine writing—especially in the under-covered South.”

—Will Wlizlo, Reviler

“Our partnership in the (Southern Music) issue of The Oxford American has generated more buzz than anything the Alabama Tourism Department has done in years. So far our year of music spotlight has been featured in the Washington Post, USA Today, Delta Sky magazine, the LA Times and goodness knows where else. I love my Southern Living, but count me as a fan.

—Lee Sentell, Director Alabama Tourism

The Oxford American has long distinguished itself as a magazine dedicated to exploring Southern culture through good writing and is a two-time winner of the National Magazine Award, among the highest honors available from the American Society of Magazine Editors.

Since its humble beginnings in Oxford, Mississippi, The OA (and now has showcased the best writers, musicians, and artists the South has ever produced.

Over the years, The Oxford American has built a strong following across the South and beyond. Our circulation strategy is aimed at an audience of engaged and active “cultural creatives”—connoisseurs of Southern writing, culture, and lifestyle; a demographic that includes all ages.

The Oxford American’s true contribution lies in reflective, careful reporting and other creative writing that touches on truths ignored by other print media. Our new web version has allowed us to broaden our reach by including Southern bloggers, editors’ picks, multimedia downloads, and the latest “skinny” on all things Southern.

In addition to our primarily Southern subscriber base, The Oxford American is sold on newsstands nationally, including Barnes & Noble, Borders, Books-A-Million, and Hastings, plus independent bookstores too numerous to mention. The Oxford American is featured in the guest rooms of many Southern boutique hotels.

Our issues are organized in a thematic context, offering creative opportunities for special advertising sections including food, film, literature, music, and travel. We offer reader service bind-ins and inserts.
