Project: What Survives

Description: Along Kentucky’s back roads and minor highways, rural communities are dying out. Whole blocks of storefronts sit empty, relics of another time’s livelihood; houses and farms are abandoned, clothes are left hanging in closets, toys left lying in yards, as people move to find reliable work. Still, some folks stay, living full lives in these places too easily dismissed as going and gone. In What Survives, Michael Morris looks at the values of faith and family that persist despite these dwindling economies.
