Happy Year of the Tiger!

Published  January 22, 2010

Coinciding with the Chinese New Year (January 26), the Crow Collection in Dallas opens an eye-popping exhibition, Seizing the New World, of recent paintings by Yang Jin Long, a Chinese artist who moved to the U.S. three years ago. There's a lot going on in Yang's zany, energized canvases—aquaplanes, toys, flying eyeball creatures—but mostly they're just plain fun. Apparently, the artist is happy to be living in an unrepressed society: "At last, I am able to paint with colors and images with no limitation," he said. The show opens tomorrow, January 23. Take your family and share the joy.
